Home Theater

A home in Austin, Texas has won a prestigious award for having the installation of the year. Evidently a $3.4 million investment that uses amongst other things real gold plating.

Not only the gold, but also hand embroidered fabric seats and antique candle holders throughout.
Looks like the type of installation that I would not allow the kids to put their feet on the seats or allow pop-corn to be spread around the room. And how about that red-wine, bad for the upholstery would it not?
Can an installation be taken too far, and render it as not being useful? Or if one has the $3.4 million to spare, I suppose what would a $500 cleaning bill cover? Most everything I would need to clean each week I suppose.
