Buying electronics can be pretty tricky. It sure sucks to buy that great new device that drops in price in a few months and even includes more features. The Citizen-Times.com has a decent article that gives you some common sense steps to follow before you invest in electronics:
Electronics are fickle. Buying electronics can feel like a game of Russian roulette, with consequences almost as deadly, especially for your pocketbook. Sometimes getting the best products for the best price can be the "luck of the draw."

But it doesn't have to be that way. Like Kenny Rogers sang, "You've got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away and know when to run."
