A new coffee maker hitting stores for the holidays can display real-time weather data, using a "smart objects" technology that Microsoft has been touting for years.
The $200 Melitta Smart Mill & Brew, made by Salton, takes advantage of a wireless-data system built by Microsoft to automatically display current weather conditions and forecasts.
Pretty Nifty little device. No longer do you have to read the paper with your coffee. Instead, just stare at the coffee pot while your coffee is brewing, sniff the aroma that is a good coffee (I recommend Alterra), and check out what the weather's going to be like in your neck of the woods.
Now to see if it's smart enough to make the coffee stronger if it senses I'm tired from a restless night. Somehow, I doubt it will be, but if that technology gets developed, you can count me in to get a new coffee pot.
