This is disappointing but understandable news. According to PCMag.com:
The Irvine, Calif., computer maker, which at one time claimed to be tops among sellers of plasma-screen TVs in the United States, has quietly phased out its plasma-screen and liquid crystal display TV sets in recent weeks in favor of focusing its efforts on PCs.

The article also states:
gateway might re-enter the television business at some point, O'Donnell said, particularly as the lines between TV sets and PC monitors blur, creating the possibility for a new types of smart TV sets incorporate greater abilities to show and share content.

It was only a few years ago that Gateway introduced a 42-inch plasma screen for $2999, the lowest price at the time. Since then prices on all brands of flat screen and plasma TVs have continued to drop. We have Gateway to thank for getting the price wars started.
