Hitachi lighting and Seiyu are reportedly working together to create a light bulb that can be used for up to 30,000 consecutive hours. The bulbs have a fluorescent lamp that detaches from an arc tube unit to work. While the bulbs will last 30,000 hours, you will only be able to use the arc tube unit for 10,000 hours. Look for the bulbs to hit Japan in October for around $14.
