mControl: Home automation software

Posted by admin on September 11, 2007 – 10:11 pm

While web browsing I came across this home automation software package that I think it really quite simple to use and even more exciting to use. Only after seeing the site for mControl Home Automation Software did I recognize that a friend of mine actually uses this software.

mControl: Home automation software

mControl provides an automated method of controlling home features that are repetitively altered during the day to meet different living conditions.

Routines and events in your home that follow a pattern can be scheduled to occur without having to manually adjust or trigger them, offering convenience and cost savings. mControl can automate your home's devices, including lights, gas fireplaces, sprinkler systems, Heating/Ventilation/Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems, security cameras, IR devices, spa baths and more. The mControl interface has been designed to blend in with Windows XP Media Center Edition, however, mControl also run's on Windows 2000, XP Home, XP Pro, or operated through Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer.

I went over to my friend's place to see how the system works. I was rather impressed with the long-term control over things like blinds, air-conditioning, gas fireplace settings and more. To watch the home in operation is very impressive.

What is even more freaky is that my friend can manage the mControl system using an ordinary browser from anywhere in the world. Using a browser at work, he is able to manage everything that is controlled by the system at home, including turning the oven on/off, altering the air-conditioning system to meet different requirements for today and so on.
