Satellite Radio

While most of us have heard about Satellite Radio for Automobiles, providers of satellite radio are producing products and services to move satellite radio from automobile use to home use.
In the United States, two companies provide satellite radio services: XM Satellite and Sirius Satellite Radio.
Both services are available mainly through portable receivers in automobiles, but both services provide devices so that satellite radio can be used at home through a home theater or stereo system, using portable boomboxes, or even online through a personal computer. Through one or other of these devices it is entirely possible to stream music into each room of your home.
Satellite Radio shines above local AM or FM services in that it usually provides all music stations, and a large number of niche stations that cannot be broadcast on other stations. Specialty stations on satellite include such programming as family talk, radio drama, classical music and live events.

Electronic House features multi-room audio provider, Sonos, that has released system software to bring sirius up to 32 rooms in a whole-house solution.
It is also worth reviewing the information provided in Wikipedia concerning satellite radio.
