Selecting an Intercom for a large home

station in each of the main living areas, and another one in the granny apartment. The doorbell needed to be answered from any of those locations. The first question we had to handle was how could we install an intercom through the house without having to run wires? So our search was then for a "wireless" intercom. There is one type of intercom, and tends to be the older types, that uses the electrical wiring of your home to connect communications. Another, and newer type, uses a 5Ghz signal, much like a cordless phone, to communicate between stations.
We selected the Westinghouse 5 Channel Wireless Home Intercom System, which provided us with 5 stations, one for each of the four main living areas of the home and one for the apartment, all connected so that any station could communicate with any area of the home and all stations could answer the doorbell unit. This intercom uses a 5Ghz signal, rather than communicating through the electrical wiring.
The system was easy to install as there was no need for any internal wiring, each station is plugged into a main electrical outlet, with the doorbell being powered by a battery therefore not needing any electrical wiring to be installed outside. This was an excellent solution to install in an existing home.
