Time-Warner Working on Start-Over Service
Filed in archive Satellite TV by william on February 22, 2005
Have you ever been channel surfing and landed on a show that looks pretty interesting but is already half over? Instead of waiting till the next air time, wouldn't it be cool to start the show over now? Well, Time-Warner Cable wants to give you the ability to go to the beginning of a program in progress with a "Start Over" service built into its Digital Video Recorders. According to this article at TheState.com:

Time Warner cable programming vice president Fred Dressler said his company was introducing a "Start Over" service built into its digital video recorders.

"The trade-off will be that for the advantage of being able to start the program over from the beginning ... you will not be able to skip though the ads," Dressler in January told Communications Daily, a trade publication. "We think that serves both consumers, the networks and the advertisers."

Sounds pretty fair to me! The technology should be available sometime this year and we'll keep you posted when more details become available.
