The Iowa City Press-Citizen is reporting that city of North Liberty, Iowa is pushing for an ordinance that would set standards for communications wiring in homes. According to the article:

City administrator Brian James said the ordinance would adopt the wiring standards of the Telecommunications Industry Association for every new house, apartment and condominium built in the city. The standards would require lines for voice, data or video in almost every room but the bathroom and the garage. Kitchens, bedrooms, family rooms, dens and studies would have to be wired.

It won't be a surprise to see more communities push for these types of ordinances in the near future, especially when you consider the future cost savings.
