VOIP Providers Must Offer 911

Filed in archive VOIP on May 20, 2005

Yesterday, the FCC ordered that VOIP providers like Vonage must provide 911 services within 120 days. Providers must also notify the customers of any limitations when using 911 with VOIP.

If you currently use VOIP service, make sure you look up the procedures for dialing 911. Last night on NBC news, a Vonage spokesperson said that you must "activate" 911 service before you use it. If you haven't done that yet, you follow these steps:

Activate Vonage 911
