Whirlpool shows off green kitchen concept
Filed in archive Wired Home General on March 14, 2008

Whirlpool is reportedly showing off a new green kitchen concept. The concept kitchen is designed to send 60 percent of the water and heat that is generated from using your household appliances back into your kitchen to fuel other appliances. Suggestions for use of the technology are things like taking the heat from running the compressor on your fridge and turning it into a way to heat the water in your dishwasher. Other energy conscious additions to the kitchen include using a drawer for your fridge instead of a door so you don't lose cold air every time the fridge door opens. The average energy savings from the kitchen is expected to be around 24%.
