YAHOO! Premiers YAHOO! Music Unlimited

Filed in archive Streaming Music on May 12, 2005

The music download wars have really got interesting. It started with Napster To Go for $14.95 per month. Then there was Rhapsody To Go for $9.99 a month. Now there's YAHOO Unlimited. The kicker is the price YAHOO is charging according to the Press Release:

Santa monica, CA -- May 10, 2005 -- Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - News), a leading global Internet company, today announced the beta availability of its new music subscription service, Yahoo!® Music Unlimited, providing music fans with unparalleled music listening and management functionality at incomparable value with an introductory price of just $4.99 per month for an annual subscription or $6.99 on a monthly basis. The service, available May 11, allows consumers to play tunes from a catalog of more than one million songs, transfer tracks to portable devices, as well as enjoy the unique ability to share and discover music with friends through Yahoo! Messenger.

For now I'll stick with Rhapsody because there appears to be more music choices, but I'll be sure to keep an eye on YAHOO.
